Rabeprazole is used to treat duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition where the stomach produces too much acid. It may also be used together with antibiotics (eg, amoxicillin, clarithromycin) to treat ulcers associated with infections caused by the H. pylori bacteria. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that decreases the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus.
Domperidone This medication may also be used to treat gastric motility disorders, which occur when the movement of food from the stomach is extremely slow, resulting in delayed emptying. However, due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects, it is not recommended for use in patients suffering from gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or perforation diseases.
Domperidone also blocks messages between parts of your brain called the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and the vomiting centre. Domperidone should start to work in about 30 to 60 minutes
